STAR WARS IN CONCERT WAS AMAZING!
Literally, I have no words to describe it.
It was that
I had goosebumps throughout most of it.
I think I stopped breathing when they played the Imperial March.
And Duel of the Fates.
I died and went to heaven when I found two guys in Fleet uniforms.
I got to see a dress that Natalie Portman actually wore
Oh, and a woman cosplayed as Mara Jade... and was excellent
I have a crush now on two of the Stormtroopers that were there. They made me giggle.
Across the Stars made me swoon... so romantic and yet so sad at the same time.
ANTHONY DANIELS IS EVEN MORE AWESOME IN PERSON. (aka C-3PO)
And when it was over I was sad because I didn't want it to ever end
So Paul and I went out for a late dinner and gushed over it. :) Plus we had a heart-to-heart talk, which was good. I'm glad I got to see it with Paul, I think only he could have appreciated it as much as I did, honestly. :D
The Stormtrooper on the left gave me his blaster and told me to point it at Paul.
Me: Okay, I can do that! XD
Those two were soooooo sexy. UGH.( More pictures of courseCollapse )The rest of the pictures are here
So yes, my life is complete. Total geek heaven... *content sigh* :)
, being the totally wonderful awesome person that she is, bought me a paid account so I could access the style coding that I had done for her Yami/Kaiba layout. And I figured it would be such a waste to not take advantage of the paid account, so here I am. XD
First off, new layout
!! Yes, I realize I have an unhealthy obsession with Thrawn and Star Wars. No, I really don't care. ;)
Second, new job
! I'm now a full time Security Officer with AlliedBarton. My current assignment is providing security for one of Deloitte's
branch offices in Nashville. I work Monday through Friday, 4PM to midnight, which means I get weekends AND holidays off! It's pretty spiffy. Plus all of the employees at my building are super sweet. Now that I have an income I hope to go back and start working on my Master's in Homeland Security
... which is about $5,000. >_> UGH.
Oh, and Jason David Frank (aka the Green/White/Red/Black Power Ranger) has a tattoo on his left arm that says "Jesus didn't tap". It's awesome. (er, UFC/MMA reference if you don't know what tap means. XD)
Zzzz... weekends just don't last as long as they should.

So I'm back from the trip to Chicago, woohoo! It was a blast. :)
Jodi rented a car, and we all left around eight that morning. Seven hours later we arrived at the hotel. We checked in and dropped our stuff off in the room, then headed to a mall to do some shopping. Came back and ordered pizza, mmm.
Next morning we headed over to the Navy Pier and spent a few hours checking out the stores (and the Stained Glass museum). We walked over to Buckingham Fountain which was fun and good exercise, lol. By the time we walked back it was time to head to the Museum of Science and Industry for the Harry Potter Exhibit!
Lots of cool props from the movies. :) I squee'd when I saw Snape's robes and wand (which has Celtic designs, you just can't see them in the movies). The trio were so tiny in SS! They had the dormitory set up with the beds and trunks, as well as several of the teachers' classrooms. They also had Hagrid's Hut, The Forbidden Forest (with Voldemort, Death Eaters, a Dementor, etc.), Quidditch stuff, and the Great Hall complete with outfits and items from the Yule Ball (still in love with Hermione's dress!). We found Dobby hiding behind Dumbledore's robes. :)
Pictures aren't allowed inside the Exhibit, but there's some on the website
After that we drove to the Medieval Times for dinner. We got stuck in traffic so we were 15 minutes late, which worked to our advantage since the manager gave us front row seats for free (it usually costs $20 per person plus the regular ticket price). The food was delicious, we had chicken, potatoes, ribs, soup with bread, and an apple pie. No silverware so we ate everything with our hands! The show was very entertaining; lots of battles between the Knights, the horses performed tricks, there was a falconer with a real falcon, and the storyline where the Knights had to rescue the Prince from the evil!Green Knight, lol. At one point the Knights tossed flowers to people in their sections and I got the first one from our knight. :D (that man is GORGEOUS)
So the trip was a lot of fun. I'm glad I got to spend some more time with Jodi, especially since we won't be able to do anything like this until next year after the baby is born and a little older. Now to just get ready for the trip to D.C. next month! (I'm looking forward to going to the Medieval Times there with blantoncirith
XD)( Buckingham Fountain and the Harry Potter ExhibitCollapse )
And of course... with the Blue Knight and the flower he tossed me. XD
So my latest addiction is Lord of the Rings Online (I mean, come on! Getting to play in Tolkien's world?!). Before this it was WOW, which I thought I had finally managed to leave behind.
...Fast-forward to tonight. Was helping a lower-level with a quest when someone tells a Chuck Norris joke in chat. Another player responds with "Go back to the Barrens ;)". To which I promptly LOL'ed.
I guess the Barrens' chat is a notable feature in WOW. XD

An update, as requested. :)
Moved my stuff out of the apartment with the help of my family and a U-Haul. Didn't take that long, thankfully; from the time I got the U-Haul until we brought it back was only a hour and a half. Everything is in one of the rooms downstairs for now. Going to spend the next few days going through everything to make sure it's all there. I didn't see my VCR or my bed frame, but I'm not too worried about those items. I'm also washing all of the linen and clothing since the apartment was dirty (not to mention figuring out how to disinfect my bed since the woman was on it and I don't know if she has anything gross or not). Quite excited about having my running shoes, I can finally start running again and get back into shape! :D
I also stopped by the office on the way out and let the super nice guy there know about the three people living in the apartment without being on the lease (one of them was busted for drugs, not good, lol) and how filthy the place is; not to mention the fact they messed with my stuff even though I was still paying my part of the rent. Yeah... the look on the guy's face was priceless. :) He wrote down all the information and said they'd call on Monday or so whenever the manager, Regina, decides what to do. Apparently there may be a way to get off the lease earlier, which would be beyond awesome, because they've destroyed that apartment and I don't want that to ruin my perfect renting history that I've acquired over the last couple of years. Anyway, the office workers are so nice there, I'm glad they are so understanding of my situation. The apartment would have been great if I hadn't had a roommate that lied all the time (seriously, who lies about their grandmother having a heart attack?!).
Ah well, live and learn. :) Plus I got a free lunch afterward at Jim 'n Nicks Bar-B-Q!
Got two road trips planned for June and July. On the 16th Jodi, Annie, possibly a few other people, and myself are driving up to Chicago to see the Harry Potter exhibit on display at one of the museums and do some exploring. Jodi is getting along in her pregnancy so this is probably our last big adventure before the baby is born, so we are going to enjoy it! My older sister (lynn2064
) and brother-in-law are letting us crash at their place at night, so that's super nice of them!
In July Annie, Amanda, and I are driving up to D.C. to spend a weekend with Mom exploring and stuff. So blantoncirith
, BE READY FOR CRAB CAKES!
I've already let them know that I was stealing some time with you. :) (provided you are free, of course) I LOVE D.C., it's probably my second favorite city after San Diego (sorry, it will always be home to me). But D.C. makes the history lover in me squee with joy.
I was bad last night and went to Books-a-Million... ended up with four books, lol. Two about the Tudors stuff (Mary Tudor and Jane Boleyn, Anne Boleyn's sister-in-law), a small Japanese literature book that is adorable, and an Alice in Wonderland spin-off for Jodi since she is obsessed with Alice. Noticed for the first time that they actually have a section to sell library books
. WTH?! Library books don't belong in Books-a-Million... they belong in a library! o_0
Bruce is doing much better now; his wound was infected and he was acting all depressed... but my vet gave him a shot and that seemed to do the trick. He's back to his adorable, crazy self and getting into everything. Like my Victoria's Secret bag:
Ohh, and I also have my bikini back. I can go swimming in our pool again! (and work on a tan) Keeps getting better and better!
If someone was to ask me who my favorite all-time character was, I'd have to say Grand Admiral Thrawn
from Star Wars. Hands down. No contest. And not just because he's from Star Wars, but because he's so freakin' awesome
. (Apparently I have a weakness for extremely intelligent men that study artwork to discern ways to neutralize a species. That's hardcore.) He is, after all, the only alien that the Emperor elevated to such a high status. Not to mention the fact that he almost toppled the New Republic when he assumed command of the Imperial forces. (If it wasn't for that damned Rukh!)
So a big "thank you" to Timothy Zahn for creating the awesomeness that is Thrawn. I've read my copies of the Thrawn Trilogy to the point where they are falling apart, and I own the other Thrawn-centric books that Zahn has written (Outbound Flight, etc.) plus the short stories that he did for the Star Wars Adventure Journals. Now I'm working on reading the other Star Wars EU books that contain Thrawn in some way.
I checked out "The Swarm
" by John Whitman from the library and finished it in a little over a hour today (it is a children's book lol). I must say I'm rather disappointed. I was rather excited to read a little bit about Thrawn's earlier career (he is only a Captain in this book) since there is actually very little information out there about him. After reading The Swarm, however, I'm rather disappointed. Thrawn just simply was not Thrawn
in it. Yes, Whitman did get a few things right, like Thrawn's love of art and his ability to understand a species by studying their art... but honestly, I just can't picture Thrawn yelling "By the Emperor!" even when startled. Or be perfectly willing to let children die in front of him. His whole attitude throughout the book was off
, and it bothered me. Whitman put no effort into showing how complex Thrawn's character is. Yes, it is a children's book, but still
This is why Zahn should be the only one allowed to protray Thrawn. Gaaaaahhhh.
/end pointless mini-rant
Oh, and I think Thrawn's expression on the cover pretty much sums it up. XD
Although I have no idea WHY Thrawn is wearing the Grand Admiral uniform when he is still just a Captain. NOTHING ABOUT THIS BOOK MAKES SENSE!
So it was that time of year again, and another trip to the Tennessee Renaissance Festival! I didn't get to go with lynn2064
like I usually do, sadly; but strwberry_patch
, Jodi, Tom, and Travis came. Jodi let me borrow one of her dresses that she had made, which was gorgeous! (I had three people make passes at me, tehe... including a pirate who kept asking me if I had any rich relatives that would pay ransom for me whenever we ran into each other. *wink* I think I like to flirt too much...) This year's trip was amazing
. I was born in the wrong time period... except for the lack of bathing, diseases, and dying in childbirth stuff.
My favorite part of the Renn Festival? Captain Red and Mr. Jiff
, of course! (plz refer to this post
from last year) I love the pirates, lol. <3<3 Captain Red (Thomas Zadoyko), besides being absolutely funny and sexy and pirate-y, is very down to earth and probably one of the most approachable people at the festival. I look forward to seeing the Buckle and Swash show every year; they never fail to make me LOL. :)
Here's the more "fun" shots from this year's adventure (nowhere near as awesome as elven_ranger
's pictures though!):( By the acting talents of a young William Shatner!Collapse )
Jodi and I are going to design costumes for all of us next year. (I'm working on growing my hair back to my waist again, sorry lynn2064
!) Very excited! Here's to Renn Festival '10. :)
Oh, and Captain Red agreed to take a picture with me! He told me to go "Arrr!", hence the funny face I am making. (Sorry, Jack Sparrow, you don't have a thing on him. *grin*)
(The rest of the pictures can be found on either my Myspace or Facebook; links in the top entry)

So I was slaughtering people on Halo 3, minding my own business, when the lights flickered on.
DEAR GHOST, IT IS WAY TOO EARLY TO BE STARTING THAT STUFF. Wait until night like you usually do. Kthx.
First off, NEW LAYOUT
!!! Totally not getting ready for the 6th movie in two months. *cough* It comes complete with Snape pwning Harry and the unofficial theme music in the background.
Movies I've seen this month:
: - good movie, much better than the 3rd X-Men.
2.) Star Trek
: - FANTASTIC! Loved loved loved this movie... especially young!Spock.
3.) Angels and Demons
: - Another great movie! Ewan just keeps getting better and better (although he will always be Obi-Wan to me, hehe). Made me want to go explore the Vatican now!
Was supposed to go to Pirate Weekend at the Tennessee Renaissance Festival but it's storming like crazy today, so that was a no-go. Plus the family wants to do something for Dad's birthday. Oh well, next weekend! (yay, jousting)
Bruce tried to kill himself again, I think. >_>; This time he managed to rip off a good-sized piece of skin on his back that exposed the muscle underneath, so I had to take him in for stitches. (there went $230) The next day he had ripped out two of the stitches and re-opened part of the tear. *head!desk* Apparently cats aren't supposed to be able to reach back there with their mouths, but he can (told you he is Batman!). So now he has staples holding the wound closed. Poor kitty. :( And he has to wear the cone of lampshade-ness and be made fun of continuously. I confess, I did giggle when he kept running into stuff at first. I'm a bad mom.
So, um, I've been watching Yu-Gi-Oh *hides from saiou
* and I think I'm in love with Kaiba Seto. Mmm, snarkiness. XD (the only reason Yami beat Seto in Battle City is because he cheats. seriously. bastard.)
